You know the math before anyone says a word. Two coworkers, the same bonus, but one stayed late every night and the other started last Tuesday. Something tightens in your chest, and the word that rises is the one we reach for first: unfair. In Matthew 20, Jesus tells a story that sets off that revolt on purpose, and then asks whether the problem is the landowner's generosity or our accounting.
This is week one of The Gospel on Stage and Screen, a four-week series pairing the summer's biggest stories with the parables that have been telling them all along. This week the landowner pays every worker the same wage, and right down the road, the poorest boy in town finds the last golden ticket hidden inside an ordinary chocolate bar, something he could never have earned. Grace Group questions on the parable are in this week's guide, and June 21 is also Father's Day and United Methodist Men Sunday.
Worship at McPherson First on Sundays at 8:30 AM (hymns and organ) and 10:15 AM (praise team), or online at youtube.com/@mcphersonfirst.
