Do you remember the first Bible that was yours? Your own name inside the cover. A shelf you could reach.
This fall our third graders receive theirs. On Sunday, October 4, the children and their parents gather at 9:30 AM for a first session together, and then in the 10:15 worship service each child comes forward and unwraps a Bible given by this congregation. The church makes a promise that morning to help them grow up loving this book and following Jesus.
Class continues at 9:30 on October 11, October 25, and November 1, with the children reading from the Bible they were just given. Diane Mears leads. A parent or trusted adult stays in the room alongside each child, because this is a practice a family builds together rather than a class a child attends alone.
The season closes Sunday, November 8, when we recognize the children in worship.
Third Grade Bible is for children in third grade and their families. To sign a child up, email Karen Jonas at karen.jonas@mcphersonfirst.org by Sunday, September 20, so we have time to order the Bibles.
