The McPherson First UMC church office will be closed on Friday, June 19 in observance of Juneteenth, a federal holiday commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. All staff will be away from the office for the day.

On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that enslaved people were free — more than two years after President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. This day marks a pivotal moment in American history and calls us to reflect on the ongoing work of justice, equity, and beloved community.

As United Methodists, we affirm the dignity and worth of every person created in God's image. Juneteenth invites us to celebrate the gift of freedom while honestly examining the ways we continue working toward a world where all people experience the fullness of life God intends.

Normal office hours resume Monday, June 22. For pastoral emergencies during the closure, please contact Pastor Andrew at 620-503-9884. Non-urgent messages left by phone or email will receive a response when the office reopens.

All are welcome to join us for worship on Sunday, June 21 at 8:30 AM and 10:15 AM — in person or online at youtube.com/@mcphersonfirst.
