"Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength." For thousands of years, faithful Jews have prayed these words from Deuteronomy 6:4-5 every day. When asked which commandment was greatest, Jesus quoted this prayer first. On June 14, we will spend a Sunday together in Deuteronomy 6:4-9, and I want us to be ready.

From Monday, June 8 through Saturday, June 13, we will walk through a six-day BibleProject reading plan called "Shema." Each day opens one of the Hebrew words at the heart of the prayer (Shema, YHWH, Ahavah, Lev, Nephesh, Me'od) with a short word-study video and a return to Deuteronomy 6:4-5. By the time we gather for worship on June 14, the prayer will sit in your bones in a new way.
