Whether you've been at McPherson First for decades, just walked through our doors, or are still figuring out what you believe, there's a place for you to grow here. Adult discipleship at McPherson First isn't one program. It's a set of practices and connections that fit different seasons of life.

Below are the main ways adults grow with us. Most people find a starting point, try it for a while, and add a second rhythm when the time is right. The Grace Group is our primary pathway, but it isn't the only one.

Grace Groups

Grace Groups are small communities of six to eight people who meet weekly for one hour to grow deeper in faith and watch over each other in love. The format is rooted in John Wesley's class meeting tradition, and it's the heart of how we make disciples at McPherson First.

Twenty-Five Practices

The Christian tradition has carried specific spiritual practices for two thousand years. We've gathered twenty-five of them, organized under the five membership promises (prayers, presence, gifts, service, witness), with teaching for each. Whether you're new to practice or have been at it for decades, there's something here for you.

  • Prayers: daily conversation with God
  • Presence: showing up to worship, communion, Sabbath, Grace Groups, and others
  • Gifts: giving financially in trust and joy
  • Service: finding where you're called to serve
  • Witness: sharing your faith through words and actions

Sunday Worship

Sunday morning worship is at 8:30 AM with organ and hymns and 10:15 AM with our praise team. Both services share the same scripture, message, and communion, just with different musical voices. Worship is where the whole congregation gathers to sing, pray, hear scripture, and receive grace together.

Bible Reading Plans

Each month, Pastor Andrew invites the congregation into a short scripture journey through the YouVersion Bible App. Plans range from a few days to a few weeks, often tied to the worship series. You can read alone or read along with Pastor Andrew's group.

United Methodist Men
