What is the Bible actually about? Who is the God at the center of it, and what does it mean to follow Jesus? On July 19 we begin a new worship series, Passing the Flame, and I want us to start with the whole story in view. The Bible is a library of many books, but it tells one unified story that leads to Jesus, and that story has reshaped millions of lives across time, culture, and language.
From Sunday, July 19 through Monday, July 27, we will walk through a nine-day BibleProject reading plan called "Introduction to the Christian Faith." Each day pairs a short animated video with a Scripture reading, tracing the great arc of the Bible: God, creation, the image of God, the promised Messiah, the gospel of the kingdom, sacrifice and atonement, the Holy Spirit, and the new humanity God is forming in Jesus. Nine days, one big picture, and a strong foundation for everything we will explore together this summer.
