When Everything Changes

There's a moment in every storm when the wind shifts. Pentecost is that moment for the church. A fierce wind. Flames of fire. A miracle of hearing where every dialect is honored. And the strange truth that ordinary people, gathered in one room and willing to wait, became the people through whom God renewed the world.

This Sunday we close our Fresh Start series on Pentecost Sunday and Heritage Sunday. The same Spirit who shook that upper room in Jerusalem has been at work in this congregation through 152 years of faithfulness. We recognize generations whose presence and prayers have shaped this place, and remind ourselves that the flame is meant to be passed forward. Paul names the gift that outlasts the spectacle: a peace that exceeds understanding, guarding hearts and minds even when the future feels uncertain.
