Every summer, stages light up and screens flicker with stories that pull us in. Stories about generosity that doesn’t add up, faithfulness when nobody is watching, searching for what is lost, and being called to something before we feel ready. These are not just scripts. They are parables. And parables have always been one of God’s favorite ways of finding us.

Join us for The Gospel on Stage and Screen: Stories That Find Us, a four-week sermon series that pairs this summer’s biggest movies and our local production of Willy Wonka with the parables and scriptures that mirror them. The gospel has been telling these stories long before the credits rolled.

Weekly Schedule:

  • June 21: Grace That Seems Unfair (Matthew 20:1-16), paired with Willy Wonka at McPherson Community Theatre.
  • June 28: Faithful When No One’s Watching (Matthew 25:14-30), paired with Toy Story 5.
  • July 5: Worth Searching For (Luke 15:1-10), paired with Minions & Monsters.
  • July 12: Called Before You’re Ready (1 Timothy 1:12-17), paired with the Moana live-action remake.

Worship happens at 8:30 AM and 10:15 AM every Sunday. Can’t join in person? Watch online at youtube.com/@mcphersonfirst.

All are welcome. Bring a friend and discover how the biggest stories of the summer still belong to God.
