The Tomorrow First project has reached a turning point. After months of demolition, piping, and equipment installation, nearly all of the new system is now in the building, and the work shifts from building to bringing the system to life. Every step has been an act of faith in what God is doing among us and in the people who will gather in these spaces for years to come.
What's Happening
The last two fan coil units for the upstairs arrived this week and are being installed, which means essentially all of the new equipment is now on site and in place. Work continues on the west end rooms, which have been the last warm spots in the building. The thermostats for those units arrived this week and the crew is tying them in, though those rooms still need insulation before cooling reaches them and may come online a little later than the rest of the building. The chill water piping that runs out to the chiller is insulated and operational, and the ductwork above the Serve Center is complete. Across the building, the crew continues to reinstall ceiling tile and grid as the insulation is wrapped behind it.
What to Expect
Later this month the system moves into startup, testing, and balancing. As part of testing the heating side, the crew has to run the building on full heat for a stretch, so expect a warm building for a day or two during that window. We will share specific dates as we get them. Finish work, including boxing in mechanical spaces, painting, and new doors and trim, is tentatively set to begin June 29.
Looking Ahead
Startup, testing, and balancing begins the week of June 22 and runs about three weeks. General finish work is tentatively scheduled to begin June 29. Owner and controls training is tentatively set for the week of July 13, followed by final closeout and documentation. End of June remains the target for major completion.
By the Numbers
To date, 113 households have committed $1,845,113 to the Tomorrow First campaign, and we have received $959,753.34, which is 55 percent of our $1.75 million goal. Thank you for the faithfulness that keeps this work moving forward.
