For six Sundays we follow God's people through one question: whom will you serve? We walk from Joshua's covenant renewal at Shechem through David, Solomon, Naaman, Micah and Isaiah.
Week one begins at Shechem. Near the end of his life, Joshua gathers every tribe and quotes God in the first person for twelve straight verses: I took Abraham, I brought you out, I gave you the land. Only after all of that does he ask them to choose.
That order still holds. God chose us first, and the choice in front of us is an answer. This week's next step is a curious conversation: one honest question about faith, asked at home, and a willingness to listen all the way through the answer.
