McPherson First United Methodist Church's Neighbor Assistance fund provided emergency help to six McPherson residents during September, addressing critical needs in the community.
The fund helped an elderly man stranded in the church parking lot with a broken-down vehicle by covering half his tow bill to get him back home. Four families received utility bill assistance to keep their electricity on. Another woman preparing to enter treatment received help paying her back rent for the month.
The Neighbor Assistance fund provides emergency financial support to community members facing temporary hardship. STEPMC administers the program from their office at McPherson First United Methodist Church, 1200 E Kansas Ave.
The fund relies entirely on donations from church members and community supporters. To contribute to the Neighbor Assistance fund and help neighbors in crisis, visit https://mcphersonfirst.churchcenter.com/giving/to/neighbor-assistanceor contact the church office at 620-241-3626.
