The Leadership Board met on October 20, sent an amended Endowment Fund Policy to the Church Conference, set the endowment's first balances, and adopted five goals for this ministry year. Steve Salter opened with a story from a book of daily Bible stories his wife received from her grandmother: a five-year-old named Bobby who made sure a new classmate had someone to play with and a place to hang his coat.

Endowment Fund Policy Goes to Church Conference

The board recommended amendments to the Endowment Fund Policy to the November 22 Church Conference. If adopted, they take effect January 1, 2027. Each of the church's two funds, the Legacy Fund and the Leadership Development Fund, would hold an endowed section invested for generations and an available section for current needs. The Legacy Fund would keep an emergency reserve for unbudgeted repairs and other urgent needs, and each year the endowed section's 4% distribution would move to the available side. Existing designated funds stay where they are; the policy would apply to new gifts as they arrive.

A Modest Start for the Endowment

The board voted to endow $25,000 of the Legacy Fund and $2,500 of the Leadership Development Fund once the Church Conference adopts the policy. A small start keeps most of the money within reach until the Tomorrow First HVAC loan is paid off, when the board can take another look.

Goals for This Ministry Year

The board adopted five goals under Grow Engagement for the year ending June 30, 2027. We aim to grow average participation in adult small groups from 26 to 45, the text prayer team from 4 to 8, in-person worship from 176 to 185, Wednesday kids and leaders from 22 to 24, and Wednesday middle school youth and leaders from 24 to 28. The text prayer team adds to the church's prayer team rather than replacing it. Two ways to help: find a place in a Grace Group, or join the text prayer team.

Planning for 2027

Board members penciled in two 2027 planning retreats, Saturday, March 6 and Saturday, August 21, and talked about forming a team to help shape the 2027-2028 Ministry Funding Plan.

Looking Ahead

The next Leadership Board meeting is Monday, November 16 at 6:00 PM. The Church Conference meets Sunday, November 22, 2:00 to 4:00 PM, in our sanctuary. Please keep those who serve our congregation in leadership in your prayers.
