When Truth Faces Power: Pilate’s Choice

You know that moment—when you see something wrong and calculate whether speaking up is worth the cost. Pilate faced that moment when he stood across from Jesus and asked, “What is truth?” He wasn’t looking for an answer. He was looking for an exit.

In this sermon from our Witnesses Lenten series, we explore what happens when systems of power refuse to recognize truth—and what that reveals about our own complicity. Drawing on Martin Luther’s stand before Emperor Charles V, John Wesley’s insistence that personal faith and social justice are inseparable, and the everyday Pilate moments we all face, this message invites us to close the gap between knowing what’s right and acting on it.

Truth is still standing. So can you.
