On the first Sunday of October, Christians around the world gather at one table. Across languages, time zones, and traditions, the church shares bread and cup together. On Sunday, October 4, McPherson First UMC joins United Methodists across the connection in celebrating World Communion Sunday at both worship services.

World Communion Sunday is one of six churchwide Special Sundays in the United Methodist Church. The offering received supports scholarships for international and U.S. racial-ethnic students pursuing advanced degrees in ministry and leadership. These gifts open doors for promising scholars who will shape communities through religious, social, and civic leadership.

When you give, you strengthen the global church by investing in the people who will lead it next. A student in another country, or a student from a racial-ethnic community here at home, takes the next step toward a calling because the wider church believed in them.

How to give: Give in worship at 8:30 AM or 10:15 AM, mail a check marked “World Communion Sunday” to the church office, or give online directly to World Communion Sunday.

Every gift matters. All are welcome to gather at the table and to share in this churchwide offering for emerging leaders.
