The disciples waited in Jerusalem, uncertain what came next. Then Pentecost: violent wind, tongues of fire, languages they'd never learned. Everything changed. The Holy Spirit transformed a frightened group into a bold movement that turned the world upside down.
This Sunday we celebrate Pentecost Sunday and Heritage Sunday together as we conclude our "Fresh Start" sermon series. In "When Everything Changes," we'll explore Acts 2:1-21 and discover how the Spirit who shook that upper room has been moving at McPherson First for 152 years.
We'll honor the generations of members who navigated massive changes—economic depressions, world wars, agricultural shifts, cultural transformations—and built the community we inherit. During worship, we'll recognize members by years of faithfulness and hear testimony from a longtime member about how this congregation has navigated unexpected turns through the Spirit's power.
Pentecost promises that when everything changes, God provides exactly what we need for the next chapter. Fresh starts aren't something we manufacture—they're gifts of the Spirit who continues making all things new.
Worship at 8:30 AM and 10:15 AM in the sanctuary or online at mcphersonfirst.org/worship. Whether you've been part of McPherson First for decades or are visiting for the first time, all are welcome to celebrate what God has done and anticipate what's next.
