Pentecost is not a second-tier Christian holiday. It is the moment when the Holy Spirit is poured out on the gathered followers of Jesus, the church is launched into public life, and the promised new creation begins to break into this world. I want to spend the five days leading up to Pentecost Sunday learning why this day matters, and I'd love for you to join me.

From May 20 through May 24, we'll walk through a short BibleProject reading plan called "Why Is Pentecost Important?" It traces fire, wind, and Spirit through Scripture, connecting the Acts 2 story to a much larger biblical narrative. Day 5 lands on Pentecost Sunday itself, so you can finish the plan on the very day we celebrate together in worship.

How to Join

Step 1: Download the Bible App. It's free for iPhone, Android, and any web browser.

Step 2: Create a free account if you don't have one yet. You'll need an account to read along with the group in the app.

Step 3: Follow McPherson First on the Bible App. When you follow our church, you'll see future reading plans as they launch and can join them with one tap.

Step 4: Join the Pentecost plan with me. This link adds you to the 5-day plan starting May 20.

Want to read on your own schedule? You can start the plan anytime without joining a group.

Prefer Paper? Download the printable reading schedule below. For enhanced study, BibleProject offers free animated overview videos, search "Pentecost" or "Holy Spirit" to find their themed videos.

I hope you'll join me. Come, Holy Spirit.

Grace and peace,
Pastor Andrew
