Human Relations Day Offering

Who taught you that every person matters, no exceptions? On Sunday, January 17, 2027, the Sunday before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday, McPherson First UMC joins United Methodists across the connection in receiving the Human Relations Day offering.

For more than 50 years, United Methodists have observed this special Sunday to live out the message Jesus embodied: that every one of God’s children matters. Human Relations Day is one of six churchwide Special Sundays, and it helps carry forward Dr. King’s vision of a “beloved community.”

The offering supports three ministries: 57% funds the Community Developers Program, strengthening racial-ethnic minority congregations and community organizing rooted in local needs; 33% supports United Methodist Voluntary Services, equipping volunteers for hands-on projects and community organizing; and 10% funds youth offender rehabilitation programs, providing mentoring and faith-based support for young people working toward a new start.

How to give: give in worship at 8:30 AM or 10:15 AM, mail a check to the church office with “Human Relations Day” in the memo line, or give online directly to Human Relations Day. Each gift joins with congregations across the connection, building communities where everyone can flourish.
