On Sunday, January 18, 2026, the Sunday before Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, we'll receive the Human Relations Day offering. For over 50 years, United Methodists have observed this special Sunday to honor the message Jesus lived out: that every one of God's children matters. Your gifts help bring Dr. King's vision of "beloved community" to life.
Human Relations Day supports three vital ministries: 57% funds Community Developers Program, strengthening racial-ethnic minority congregations and engaging communities based on local needs; 33% supports United Methodist Voluntary Services, challenging unjust political, social, and economic systems; and 10% empowers youth rehabilitation programs through church-based activities, mentoring, and youth development.
Last year, United Methodists gave over $250,000 to these ministries. Together, we accomplish far more than we could on our own, supporting grassroots leaders, advocates for justice, and programs helping young people discover their worth and potential.
You can give during either worship service on January 18, online at mcphersonfirst.churchcenter.com/giving/to/human-relations-day-offering, or by mailing a check to the church with "Human Relations Day" in the memo line. Every contribution joins with gifts from congregations nationwide, building communities where everyone can flourish.
