As temperatures plummet and snow falls in McPherson this week, First United Methodist Church is taking proactive steps to keep our community safe. The National Weather Service forecasts dangerous wind chills and hazardous travel conditions for February 18-19, leading to several adjustments in our church schedule.

Our Potatoes and Prayer gathering, originally planned for Wednesday evening, will now be rescheduled to March 5th to coincide with Ash Wednesday services. This change creates an exciting opportunity to bring our community together for both events on this significant day in the church calendar. We look forward to sharing both physical and spiritual nourishment as we begin the Lenten season together.

The winter weather has prompted several other adjustments to our weekly activities. The Civil Discourse group will meet as planned on Tuesday evening, but through Zoom - reach out to Sandy Hunter (s.e.hunter13.sh@gmail.com) for the link. This will allow our important conversations to continue while ensuring everyone's safety. Wednesday's Land is Not Empty book discussion will also move online - contact Deacon Jeanne Koontz (jeanne.koontz@mcphersonfirst.org) for Zoom access. This temporary shift to virtual gathering enables us to maintain our study momentum despite the weather challenges.

The HVAC Team's Wednesday meeting will move to February 26th. If you have questions about the new date, Jay Warner (jayamy@lrmutual.com) is happy to help. We appreciate everyone's flexibility as we navigate these weather-related changes. During extreme weather conditions like this, it's important that we prioritize safety while maintaining our connections as a church family. Remember to check https://www.mcphersonfirst.org/ for any updates or changes to our church activities, and don't hesitate to reach out if you need assistance accessing any of our virtual gatherings.
