Hebrews opens by setting Jesus above every figure who came before him: the prophets, the angels, Moses, and the priests. James opens much closer to home, with trials, quick tempers, and the words we say to each other. Our church is reading both books together in a seven-day BibleProject plan, New Covenant, New Wisdom, October 18 through October 24. Five days in Hebrews, then two in James. Days 1 and 6 include a short animated video, and each day takes only a few minutes.
Day 1 falls on the opening Sunday of our new worship series, As For Me and My House, six weeks with God's people from Joshua's covenant at Shechem to swords beaten into plows. Hebrews picks up the covenant thread. James picks up the wisdom thread, which we hear again when the series reaches Solomon on November 1.
